Kat James (ASCAP)

Kat James is the powerhouse vocalist and guitarist spearheading the band Troublemaker. Hailing from New Waverly, Texas, Kat picked up the guitar as a child and never put it down, teaching herself to play. After putting together and leading several groups in her young years, she finally decided to stick with “Troublemaker,” a name originally pinned on her by her grandfather.

With years of experience on stage and in the public eye, Kat knows how to capture and command an audience with her dynamic stage presence and high-energy performances. She consistently pours genuine emotion into every performance, an intensity the audience feels in every note. Along her career, Kat has performed for countless fans throughout the United States and shared the stage with many national acts.

Kat’s powerful voice has frequently drawn comparisons to the iconic Janis Joplin. The band has embraced this resemblance, recording a full Janis Joplin tribute CD in her honor.
